Minutes of the meeting held on 7th October 2024

The Noticeboards were discussed notices are appearing that the parish council has not authorised and a discussion took place as to who the key holders for the notice boards are, it was agreed the clerk would type a statement to be brought to the next meeting stating all notices are to be agreed by the parish council before they appear on the boards. A discussion took place around the notice to dog walkers that appeared on the notice boards Cllr John Ridley stated it was not relevant as there is no regular  dog warden presence to enforce any fines. Verbal  quote for cemetry work has been received from Fenton Tree Surgeries of £800 a further quote from Continental Landscapes for £450 + vat has also been received it was agreed this offered the best value Cllr Cody proposed quote form Continnetal Landscapes was accepted Cllr S Spence seconded. Cllr Pilgrim gave an update on Marton Meadows housing development the crossing and car park will be finished in the coming weeks no reason was given for the delay. Dog poo bins repairs needed have been reported and repairs now actioned by WLDC.

1.    Marking the plots in the cemetery was again discussed. Slabs used to mark the rows in some cemeteries was discussed, concerns were expressed on how grass cutting around the slabs would take place and also how headstones would be mounted Cllr N Cody to contact the clerk at Walkeringham parish council for further information. Purchase of a new burial book was agreed to be purchased from Shaw's at a cost of £266.00, it was also agreed a further inscription on an existing memorial could be added. Cllr Pilgrim talked about grave re-usage , Cllr S Spence had an email from WLDC re responsibility of war memorial shed and tank store. It was agreed the parish council was responsible for war memorial the church was responsible for the shed and tank store, a written commitment from the parish council to maintain the war memorial has been requested by WLDC. A letter from the previous clerk Gillian Martin was read out by Cllr Spence, Gill thanked everyone for their kind gift and support. A complaint had also been received by Cllr Spence on the alteration of the bus route with the journey from Marton to Gainsborough now taking longer.
   
3.    NOTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON  7nd September TO BE APPROVED AS MINUTES with amendments '8 properties released and 5 bags of chippings purchased'.
Cllr Dunning proposed and Cllr Cody seconded that the notes be approved as a true record.

5.    REPORTS ON MATTERS FROM PREVIOUS MEETINGS
None

6.    PROPOSED SOLAR PARKS.
Cllr White had attended a 7000 Acres meeting and gave an update that the meeting was well attended and developers could not commpulsory purchase land which is what they had be advising this was incorrect.

8.    FINANCE
Cheques were signed for clerks salary, HMRC,Continental Landscapes Cllr Ridley and S Porter.

9.CORONATION WOOD
5 bags of wood chip have been purchased from Jewson's and spread positive cxomments have been recieved,  a discussion took place on grass cutting. It was agreed a further 10 bags of wood chippings are to be purchased from Jewson's propsed Cllr Spence and seconded by Cllr N Cody.

10.CORRESPONDENCE
Letter received from Sam Fenton requesting a skate park in the playing field as this is the village hall responsibility the clerk will reply to Sam advising him to contact Rachel Wearing.
